1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Recora ("the app", "the Service"), a mobile application developed and maintained by an independent developer ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Recora, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use Recora. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
2. The service
Recora lets you create custom collections with your own fields and manage records inside them. All app data — collections, records, attachments, dashboards, and settings — is saved directly to a private, app-restricted area of your own Google Drive account. Recora does not operate a backend database and does not store your records on any server we control.
We may update, change, or discontinue features of the app at any time to improve functionality, performance, or compatibility with new operating system versions. We'll try to give reasonable notice of any change that materially affects how you use the app.
3. Accounts & sign-in
Recora requires you to sign in with a Google account to use the app. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for all activity that occurs through your session. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, revoke Recora's access immediately via Google Account Permissions and contact us.
We do not create or manage a separate Recora account or password — authentication is handled entirely by Google Sign-In.
4. Your content
Any collections, records, attachments, or other content you create in Recora ("Your Content") remains entirely your property. We claim no ownership rights over it. Because Your Content is stored in your own Google Drive, we do not have access to it, cannot recover it on your behalf, and are not responsible for its accuracy or completeness.
You are solely responsible for backing up Your Content. We recommend periodically using the in-app export feature to keep an independent copy of important data. We are not liable for any loss of Your Content resulting from device failure, accidental deletion, Google Drive account changes, or revoked app permissions.
5. Acceptable use
When using Recora, you agree not to:
- ✗ Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law
- ✗ Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app, except where permitted by law
- ✗ Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the AI proxy server or any infrastructure supporting the app
- ✗ Use the app to store or transmit content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, or that violates the rights of others
- ✗ Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any rate limits, security measures, or usage restrictions built into the app
We reserve the right to suspend a user's access to shared infrastructure (such as the AI suggestion feature) if we detect abuse, but we cannot suspend or delete Your Content, since it lives in your own Google Drive.
6. AI-assisted features
Recora includes an optional AI assist feature that suggests collection fields based on a short description you provide. This feature sends your description (not your records) through our proxy server to third-party AI models. Suggestions are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your use case — you should always review AI-generated suggestions before accepting them.
Do not enter sensitive personal information, passwords, or confidential data into the AI description field. We do not use your Recora records to train any AI model.
7. Third-party services
Recora relies on third-party services to function, including Google Sign-In, Google Drive, and AI model providers accessed through OpenRouter. Your use of these services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or content of any third-party service, and any outage on their end may affect your ability to use Recora.
8. Pricing & future paid features
Recora is currently free to download and use, with no ads and no in-app purchases. If we introduce optional paid features or a subscription tier in the future, pricing and included features will be clearly disclosed in the app and on the relevant app store listing before you are asked to pay, and any purchase will be processed through Apple's App Store or Google Play billing systems, subject to their respective terms and refund policies.
9. Intellectual property
The Recora name, logo, app design, and underlying software (excluding Your Content and any open-source components) are the property of the developer and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, branding, or source code beyond the limited right to use the app as intended.
10. Disclaimer of warranty
Recora is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any data sync with Google Drive will always complete successfully. You use the app at your own risk.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of Recora shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Because Recora is free and does not process payments today, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars (USD $50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
12. Termination
You may stop using Recora at any time by deleting the app and revoking its access via Google Account Permissions, which also removes the app's stored data from your Drive.
We may suspend or restrict access to shared infrastructure (such as the AI proxy) for any user found to be violating Section 5 (Acceptable Use). Because your data lives in your own Google Drive, we cannot and do not delete, lock, or access Your Content as part of any suspension.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide notice within the app. Your continued use of Recora after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
