Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?
All your collections and records are saved to a private, hidden area of your own Google Drive account (the appDataFolder). Recora doesn't run its own database — your data never leaves Google's infrastructure except to sync with your device.
My records disappeared — what happened?
This is almost always a sign-in or sync issue rather than actual data loss, since your records live in your Drive, not on the device. Try: (1) sign out and sign back in to refresh your Google session, (2) check you're signed into the same Google account you used originally, (3) confirm you have network connectivity so the app can sync. If records are still missing after that, email us and we'll help you check your Drive's appDataFolder.
I can't sign in with Google
Double-check you have a stable internet connection and that Google Play Services (Android) or your Apple ID network access (iOS) isn't restricted. If a sign-in previously worked and suddenly stopped, visit Google Account Permissions to confirm Recora still has access — if it was revoked, sign in again to re-grant it. Reinstalling the app can also clear a corrupted local session.
How do I export my data?
Open any collection, use the export option to download a CSV snapshot of its records. Since your data is plain JSON in your Google Drive, you can also access it directly from Drive if you ever need a raw copy.
Does Recora work offline?
Yes — Recora keeps a local cache of your collections so you can view and edit records without a connection. Changes sync back to Google Drive automatically the next time you're online.
How do I permanently delete my account and data?
Recora doesn't have a separate account system — signing out and revoking access via Google Account Permissions permanently deletes the app's stored data from your Drive. There's nothing left on our end, since we never had a copy.
Is Recora free?
Yes, Recora is currently free with no ads and no in-app purchases. If that changes in the future, we'll clearly disclose pricing before asking you to pay — see our Terms & Conditions.

Troubleshooting checklist

  1. Make sure you're running the latest version of Recora from the App Store / Google Play.
  2. Check your internet connection — Drive sync requires network access.
  3. Sign out and sign back in to refresh your Google authentication.
  4. Restart the app fully (close it from your app switcher, not just background it).
  5. If a specific screen is stuck or crashing, try reinstalling the app — your data is safe in Drive and will reload after you sign in again.
  6. Still stuck? Email us with your device model, OS version, and app version (found in Settings) so we can help faster.
